Bitless halters are designed to apply pressure to various areas (head and nose) to control the horse and avoid the use of a bit. They can be used if the horse has a mouth injury or is unwilling to carry a bit. Bitless designs are most often seen in endurance racing, trail riding, and some types of natural horsemanship they are sometimes seen in other disciplines.
